Education Preview

The Birch Aquarium at Scripps and the Earthguide educational media team at Scripps Institution of Oceanography are delighted to partner with DFL in developing this educational component.

The finished website is slated for completion in Spring of 2009, but periodic Sneak Peeks will also be released.

The education website will inform and educate kids of all ages in learning more about fishes.

Find out how the designs of fishes have become customized for survival in the aquatic realm. Take a look at both external and internal adaptations.

How do fish hide where there's no place to hide? How do fish find each other in the dark? How do some sharks hunt down buried prey? Find the answers here.

The finished website will:
  • Introduce you to the marvelous diversity of fish on Earth
  • Explain how MRI and other visualization techniques work
  • Let you learn what the marine biologists know
  • Explore case studies and unusual fish phenomena
