Remarks:
Megamouth sharks are easily distinguished by its extremely long and huge head and short and rounded snout. The large terminal mouth can extend well behind the eyes and the jaws are covered with numerous rows of tiny sharp teeth. They are usually gray to bluish black above and light gray below, with white fin tips. They can grow to maximum length of 5.5 m and live in tropical to warm temperate waters at approximately between depths of 150 m – 1000 m.

This family comprises only one species, Megachasma pelagios, Megamouth shark.
