Depressiform

About this Tag

These species have bodies that are dorso-ventrally flattened, or depressed, in shape. Depressiform body shapes allows fish to rest on the bottom and hide either using camouflage or by covering themselves with a layer of sand. It also allows fish inhabiting flowing streams and rivers to forage along the bottom
