Deep sea fish are species that live almost exclusively below the photic (sunlit) zone of the ocean. It is usually a hostile environment, with pressures between 20 and 1,000 atmospheres (between 2 and 100 megapascals), temperatures between 3-10°C (37-50°F), and a lack of oxygen.
